How to cover this syllabus

  1. 1Tier 1 is a speed exam — target 90+ attempts with 95% accuracy, not 100 attempts with guesses.
  2. 2Reasoning and Quant are the highest-return sections; fix 8–10 chapters completely before touching new ones.
  3. 3Start typing practice on day one: 35 wpm in English or 30 wpm in Hindi decides your final selection.
  4. 4Revise static GK weekly with a single one-page sheet instead of reading new sources every week.
  5. 5Attempt one full Tier 1 mock every alternate day in the last 30 days and log every silly mistake.

Frequently asked questions

What typing speed is required for SSC CHSL?

35 words per minute in English or 30 words per minute in Hindi, measured on a computer. The skill test is qualifying, but failing it cancels your selection.

Is SSC CHSL easier than SSC CGL?

The syllabus is similar but the CHSL question level is closer to Class 10–12, while CGL Tier 2 goes considerably deeper. Preparing for CGL usually covers CHSL as well.

Is there negative marking in SSC CHSL Tier 1?

Yes, 0.50 mark is deducted for every wrong answer, so avoid blind guessing in General Awareness.
