Quantitative Aptitude carries 25 questions in Tier 1 and the entire Paper 1 weight in Tier 2, and it is the section where ranks are actually made. Arithmetic — percentage, profit and loss, ratio, average, time and work, time speed distance, simple and compound interest — supplies more than half of those questions, so start there before touching advanced Maths.

Watch a concept lecture once at normal speed, pause after every solved example, and redo the same example on paper before resuming. A chapter is finished only when you can solve a fresh set in under 45 seconds per question, not when the video ends.

• Arithmetic first: percentage → profit and loss → ratio → average → interest.
• Advanced next: algebra identities, geometry theorems, mensuration formulas, trigonometry values.
• Data Interpretation last — it is arithmetic wearing a table.

General Intelligence and Reasoning is the highest scoring section per minute invested. Analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, syllogism, paper folding, mirror images and figure counting repeat almost verbatim year after year.

The fastest gain here comes from previous-year practice, not from more theory. Two lectures per chapter plus 100 old questions is usually enough to reach 22+ out of 25 in Tier 1.

• Verbal: series, coding-decoding, blood relations, syllogism, statement-conclusion.
• Non-verbal: paper folding and cutting, mirror and water images, embedded figures.
• Target accuracy above 90% — negative marking punishes guesswork here.

English in Tier 1 is vocabulary-heavy and rule-light: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution, idioms, spelling errors, cloze test, error spotting and sentence improvement. Hindi-medium aspirants often treat this as a lost section, which is a mistake — the same 1,500 words and 20 grammar rules keep returning.

Build a daily habit instead of a marathon: ten new words, one cloze test and twenty error-spotting questions every day for three months beats any crash course.

• Grammar core: subject-verb agreement, tenses, articles, prepositions, narration.
• Vocabulary core: SSC previous-year word lists, idioms and one-word substitution.
• Practice cloze tests in timed sets of five passages.

General Awareness is 25 questions answered in under six minutes if prepared properly — static GK plus roughly six months of current affairs. Static weightage leans towards Polity (Constitution, Fundamental Rights, Parliament), History (Ancient, Medieval, Modern), Geography, Economy, and General Science with Biology dominating.

Do not read newspapers cover to cover for SSC. A monthly current-affairs compilation lecture plus a weekly revision session gives a better marks-per-hour return.

• Static: Polity, History, Geography, Economy, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer.
• Current affairs: last 6–8 months, schemes, awards, sports, appointments, books.
• Revise the same compilation three times rather than reading three new ones.

Lectures build knowledge; mock tests build the exam temperament that converts knowledge into marks. From the second month onward, attempt one sectional test daily and one full-length test every weekend, always at the same time slot as your actual shift.

Analysis matters more than the score. Every wrong answer belongs to one of three buckets — concept gap, silly mistake, or bad time allocation — and each bucket needs a different fix.

• Full-length mock: 100 questions, 60 minutes, real timer and question palette.
• Spend twice as long analysing a mock as attempting it.
• Keep an error notebook; revise only that in the last two weeks.

Six months is enough for a working aspirant and four months for a full-time one, provided the plan is boring and repeatable. Mornings for Maths, afternoons for Reasoning and English, evenings for GK revision, and a fixed weekly test day.

• Month 1–2: complete Arithmetic and Reasoning basics, 10 English words daily.
• Month 3–4: advanced Maths, Data Interpretation, static GK, sectional tests.
• Month 5: full-length mocks twice a week plus error-notebook revision.
• Month 6: revision only — no new source, no new channel, no new book.
